In September 2016, HAL partnered with Security Properties to develop 279 apartments and 4,000 square feet of retail in Bellevue’s new Spring District neighborhood. Construction began in October 2016 and the project was completed in February 2019. The Spring District is a 36 acre, mixed-use, transit-oriented neighborhood located just to the east of Downtown Bellevue. The Global Innovation Exchange, a graduate institute created through a partnership of the University of Washington and the Tsinghua University of Beijing, opened in the Spring District in 2017. The Spring District is also home to 1.8 million square feet of leased or occupied Facebook Office Space, and a Sound Transit light rail station will open in 2023, connecting commuters to Microsoft’s main campus, Downtown Bellevue, Seattle and the Seattle Tacoma International Airport. When fully developed, the Spring District will have over 5.3 million square feet of buildings. HAL and Security Partners sold the building to Lakevision Capital in February 2022.
